Ortelia Curator 2020 Subscription! Why? As you aware from the title of this post we are moving Ortelia Curator exhibition design software to a subscription model. Ortelia Curator PRO and Normal will be reborn as ‘Ortelia Curator 2020’. ‘Why are you doing this and what does it mean for me?’ we hear you ask. In this post we talk about why we are moving to a subscription model and what the implications are for both current and future users. The post will end with a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) regarding Ortelia Curator 2020 subscription service.

Why Subscription?

Since the first release of Ortelia Curator as a Windows only platform we have now moved to multi-platform releases. The increase in the number of our users over time has also translated to an increase in feature requests. Our current licensing model requires that the release of major versions occurs after a significant development period. A number of new features and enhancements need to be accumulated for a major version release. Bug fixes and minor enhancements are delivered periodically. This situation results in our users waiting long periods for new features and incurring upgrade fees with version changes. Moving to a subscription model allows us to deliver new features as they are developed! No more waiting till the ‘next version’ for features.

A subscription model allows us to better respond to the rapidly changing platforms on which Ortelia Curator is supported. It also allows us to more efficiently address our users feature requests. In short, moving to the subscription model will mean more updates and features more often.

In order to move to a continuous release model (features and updates released as they occur) we will be discontinuing support for all versions of Ortelia Curator up to 1.6.1. We will continue to support version 1.6.1 until the 31st of December 2020. Support for version 1.6.1 will only extend to bug fixes and no new feature will be added. You can continue to use your license of Ortelia Curator and the licencing system will remain active. We will also be discontinuing Ortelia Curator Normal.  Refer to the FAQ below for more details.

Finally, a major incentive to move to the subscription service has come directly from our users who have requested greater cost flexibility. We recognise the constraints of the sector and believe that the subscription service addresses the issue by giving you the flexibility to use Ortelia Curator when and as often as your needs dictate.

Why should I upgrade to Ortelia Curator 2020 subscription?

Moving to a subscription model allows us to deliver new features as they are developed. We can  more efficiently address your feature requests. In short, moving to the subscription model will mean more updates and features more often. You no longer need to pay version upgrade fees as new features and enhancements are delivered automatically. Our pricing plans give you more financial flexibility. If you only design a small number of exhibitions per year you can choose to subscribe on a month to month basis. Alternatively if you are a large organisation with numerous exhibitions per year our yearly subscription option will prove most cost-effective.

What happens to Ortelia Curator PRO?

Ortelia Curator PRO no longer exists. If you have a Ortelia Curator PRO you can continue to use it without any issue. However, we will no longer support any version of Ortelia Curator prior to Ortelia Curator 1.6.1. We will cease support for Ortelia Curator 1.6.1 on the 31st of December 2020. Support will only cover any identified bugs but no new features will be added.

Will pre-Ortelia Curator 2020 versions be supported?

No, all versions of Ortelia Curator (Pro and Normal) up to version 1.6.1 will cease to be supported. You can continue to use your version of Ortelia Curator. We will continue to support Ortelia Curator 1.6.1 onward until the 31st of December 2020. Support will only cover any identified bugs but no new features will be added.

What if I already own Ortelia Curator?

You can continue to use your version of Ortelia Curator. However, we will no longer support any version prior to 1.6.1. We will continue to support Ortelia Curator 1.6.1 onward until the 31st of December 2020. Support will only cover any identified bugs but no new features will be added.

What if I only recently purchased Ortelia Curator?

If you purchased Ortelia Curator after the 1st of June 2019 you will offered 12 months subscription to Ortelia Curator 2020 when you sign up to the service. You will receive a direct email and code to enter during the subscription process to automatically upgrade you to Ortelia Curator 2020 for the nominated period.

How do I upgrade my license of Ortelia Curator to a subscription?

Simply sign up for a subscription here. You will be issued new license details and a download link for the software. You can continue to use your current version of Curator or switch to Ortelia Curator 2020.

Do I have to uninstall Ortelia Curator PRO or Normal before installing Ortelia Curator 2020?

No. You can have both versions installed without any issues.

What platforms does Ortelia Curator work on?

Ortelia Curator works on current Microsoft Windows and Mac OS platforms.

I have Ortelia Curator Normal what happens now that it is no longer supported.

You can continue to use Ortelia Curator Normal as long as you like. Nothing changes with your current license but we will no longer support it. You can upgrade to Ortelia Curator 2020 here.

Does the subscription service have a auto-renew facility?

Yes it does. Your subscription will renew at the end of the nominated period. You will receive notification of renewal 2 weeks before your subscription is due to be renewed.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Simply log in to your account (you will receive a link to your account when you sign up) with your details and click on ‘Cancel my subscription’ before your auto renewal date. Your account will continue to exist even though you are not renewing your subscription. You can return at any time to renew.

Can I resubscribe after cancelling my subscription?

Yes! You can resubscribe to the service at any time. Your account will remain active. You can login in any time and resubscribe to the Ortelia Curator 2020.

Can I transfer my Ortelia Curator 2020 license between computers?

Absolutely! you can install Ortelia Curator 2020 on as many computers as you like. As with previous versions of Ortelia Curator you can transfer your license/s between computers with our easy-to-use online Activation/Deactivation system.

What happens when my subscription expires?

If your subscription expires due to cancelling renewal, your copy of Ortelia Curator 2020 will cease to work. You will not lose any files that you have created however you will not be able to load them in Ortelia Curator until you renew your subscription through your account.
